About Catamaran Resort
The Catamaran sits at 3999 Mission Boulevard, on the strip of Mission Beach with Mission Bay on one side and the ocean boardwalk on the other. It opened in 1958 as an 82-room inn and has grown into a full resort without losing the tropical Polynesian styling it started with — koi ponds, torches lit at dusk, and gardens running down to the bay. Oceana Coastal Kitchen, Moray’s and Lava Java handle the dining; there’s a full spa and watersports off the resort’s own beach. Like the Bahia across the water, it belongs to Evans Hotels, and the Bahia Belle sternwheeler stops at both.From San Diego International the drive is about seven miles, usually 15 to 20 minutes. Mission Boulevard is the part worth planning around: it is a narrow two-lane street shared with pedestrians, cyclists and beach traffic, and on a summer weekend it barely moves. Booking a car means the driver handles that street rather than you, and you’re dropped under the porte-cochère instead of circling for parking.
